Colorado Culture Cast began as Springs Culture Cast in February 2007. In response to the lack of quality arts and culture reporting in mainstream broadcast and print media, we created a website featuring streaming videos of all manner of arts and culture related events. Our goal was to provide viewers with a realistic sense of what it is like to get out of their homes and participate in their communities. In June of 2007, we began airing daily radio companion broadcasts of our web content on Radio Colorado College, KRCC - 91.5FM. During this same period of time, we began broadcasting a weekly television program airing initially on Comcast Channel 2 and now on Comcast Channel 17, The Library Channel in Colorado Springs. In June 2008, we transitioned from Springs Culture Cast to Colorado Culture Cast as an opportunity to broadcast our television program became available with Colorado Public Television, KBDI Channel 12 in Denver. KBDI is a PBS affiliate station that broadcasts to more than 80% of Colorado's population.
Our mission is to report on arts and cultural events in the State of Colorado. Because we value the diversity of our statewide community, we do not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or age. We welcome the simple joys, the sublime awe, and the thought-provoking controversies that art brings to our lives, and we seek to share these experiences with as wide an audience as possible.
